Still the best, only bettered by the aluminum model
I got this mount after getting the all aluminum version on my new Reference series Pearl kit. I loved the tom sound of the new kit and thought the mount might play a small part in that great sound. Since I still use my old Pearl kit with a 13" mounted tom, I decided to give this a try as a replacement for the through wood tom mount that originally came with the old tom.
Much to my satisfaction this mount did improve the sound of my old tom. It is a little fuller, but more detailed with a long root tone sustain than when mounted with the old style mount.
I chose to completely remove the old mount and had a small aluminum plate made to cover the original hole for the old mount which I installed with a thin rubber seal. I am very happy with the results.
I am convinced the all aluminum version, which is lighter and less lightly to add any resonance of its own, is a better choice. But for the money this Optimount is an amazing deal.

works well
Have Spaun drums and the Optimount was easy to install. Use the smaller size so it attaches to the metal portion of the screws and not the rim of your drum. Easy adjustments once installed but you gota remove top and bottom head
