Great for home / studio
This is a great set of drums for the drummer playing at home or in the studio. The kit is on the smaller side 20x18, 10x8, 12x9 and 14x14 as opposed to another popular configuration of 22" bass drum and larger toms.
This kit sounds fantastic.. toms have a great balanced and warm tone with a the right amount of attack. I've tried other birch sets but this one was easy to tune and is the best sounding. Pearl makes high quality stuff at reasonable prices and I was very impressed with the stability and quality of this kit ( mainly a comment on the hardware, rims etc ). I got this kit on Amazon at a steal of a price so that makes it all that much sweeter.
Previously I had a Pearl Masters MCX kit ( next line up with maple shells ) .. I ended up selling those to a guy who made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Those drums were great but were much more ambient and live sounding than this birch set ... would have been great for live work if I was in a band but I'm...
