With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

a set worth tuning
This is considered an intermediate set, but these days, we all know there is almost no such thing from Pearl, Yamaha and comparable drum makers. When you think of beginner, you are thinking of a set that costs no more than $300 with everything, hardware and all. $400 is about right for these shells, but you could probably haggle a bit. It won't make that much difference because you will end up spending almost twice as much on the cymbals, hi-hat and hardware (the true hidden cost of drums). You will also want to replace the heads as well if you really want it to sound as good as the $1000+ sets. Snobs will say it won't sound as good, but do not listen to them. Unless you are recording the next grammy winning album, you won't notice. Especially if you are trying to get a less expensive set and just hoping for decent sound. These are it. All pieces tune well. Snare is competent. For this price range, you are not getting ripped off.
