Excellent, seamless performance
This pedal gives you exactly the sound that you put into it. It never draws attention to itself. It doesn't have any slack or delay or idiosyncracies to make allowances for. It's just a great pedal. Very fast. Great feel. Ultimate adjustability. Silent operation. I've played a lot of pedals in 40 years of drumming, but I've never played one better than the Demon Drive.

Design Flawed, Potentialy Great
I had these pedals for three weeks. I tried every possible adjustment available(and there are tons)with no success. It was only when I took them off my kit and put them on the table to analyze them and really focus on what was the issue did I discover this Pedals issues. Two things I noticed. The first thing was the footboard is way to low and if set at the highest adjustment marker the mechanics no longer work properly and the pedal becomes completely unusable. This is the design flaw and could be fixed by making the connecting arm shorter.
Secondly, the resistance of the pedal during the throw is not smooth and does not feel consistant. Towards the last 1 to 2 inches of the beater swing the resistance increase very sharply as it aproaches the head. You can really notice this if you use your hand to slowly press the pedal through the full range.
This pedal does have the potential of being the best hopefully version 2 will have these short comings fixed.

A Contradiction of its Self
There is really a contradiction with this pedal. The pedal seems like it should be something special, yet it just feels average. In the end feel and playability is most important. If the pedal doesn't feel good who cares how well its made. For me personally I just couldn't jive with this Pearl Demon Drive.
Since feel is completely subjective I have tried to keep most of the review focused on attributes that are more objective.
Overall this is an ultra smooth high end pedal and I think many drummers will love it. It is like a cross/compromise between a chain drive and direct drive. I have no way of knowing this but I bet that was one of the design goals. I feel it is more of a chain drive feel but without that slack on the return. The feel leans toward light rather than heavy.
