What makes the e-Pro Live drumset truly different than other electronic drumsets is the real feel and response from the pads. Oh, yeah I like these
I have not seen any reviews on the Epro so I will give it a go. For one, I love and prefer acoustic drums. Due to my, or should I say my band's issue with my volume, I was forced to go electronic and played a set of Rolands for 2 years. They were certainly okay with the limitations of mediocre sounds. I also hated the look (how egotistical) of playing on little pads. I was very excited to play with better sounds and the real look of drums...so now the review.
These Epro drums look really great and sound much improved over my Rolands (which I am now selling). Yes, out of the box the sounds were not perfect but spending time with the redbox allows for some real flexibility and I now have the sounds I have craved with the volume my bandmates so desire. The best compliment I can give is that the drums fooled a drummer in the audience who loved my sound and thought I was playing a real kit.
Will this replace real drums, no but is the ideal for a gigging drummer who...

No Ready for Prime Time
First, let me say that I had a Roland TD-12 set for five years and never had one problem with it. I bought ePro-Live set because bands I was playing with didn't like the look of the electronic set.
My first impression, out of the box, was how cheap the shells were. for one thing, the "maple fade" finish is a plastic wrap is not attached well at the seams, like they ran out of glue.
I've had this set for 9 months and I'm on my fourth replacement Redbox. The ride cymbal hand mute has never worked (on several Redbox units), although it works when I plug the ride cymbal into crash cymbal inputs-- weird). Also, if you add an additional cymbals in the Aux ports, they don't support hand mutes at all.
The instructions for downloading/saving settings and uploading/restoring settings is are vague and inaccurate. It took me 30 days going back and forth on email with their one Product Support Specialist, iron out the details not posted on their support website. In...
Stay away from these!
For full disclosure, I will mention up front that I don't own a set of these drums. The reason I don't own them is because they are very poor quality. The reviewer before me who said they are not ready for prime time said it best. My church is moving into a new building and re-vamping our a/v setup, so we are looking for a new set. I went to check these out at my local GC and here is what I found:
1) They sound awful. This is the most important aspect of any set, and this is where these fail most. I heard samples online, which sounded bad to me, but I thought maybe they translated better in person. They didn't. After getting back to my office, I learned that the module these drums use is the same as the one that comes on an $800 Alesis set, just painted red. Alesis is the Yugo of drum modules, in my opinion.
2) The drum triggers are just rubber pads. You cannot tell this from the photos, so I was surprised to learn that these feel like you are playing...
